I would absolutely love to study more about Socrates, and definitely Voltaire as well. I learned bits and pieces about Socrates in my Humanities class last year, and I read Candide in French (as in the language AND the class) last year as well. Both are inspirational people.
Socrates is one of my favorite literary characters. There is something about his wit, boldness, and incessant optimism that often forces me to smile. Of course, I only know him through Plato's voice. I thank Plato for writing enough interesting dialog to make Socrates, and ancient Athens, so vivid.
ReplyDeletePlato's Apology (of Socrates) is a great place to start if you haven't read it yet.
